Girls as young as seven forced to wear hijab to school: Michelle Dewberry FUMES on GB Mums

In today's GB Mums episode, Michelle Dewberry, Emily Carver and Olivia Utley discuss a state-funded primary school in north London that has been referred to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) over a policy requiring students to wear the hijab from age seven.

Barnet Hill Academy, which caters for children aged three to 11, lists a white hijab as a uniform requirement for pupils from Year 3.

“I just don't know why it's been tolerated in the first place,” Michelle said, reacting to the story.

“If you choose to raise your children in Britain, irrespective of what religion you are, you should be abiding by the British culture and the British values.

“We don't force little girls to conceal themselves. That's not a British value. And if you want to live like that, there are a plethora of Muslim countries where I'm sure that practice and beyond is more than welcome and normalised.”
